A website is a vital tool for anyone wishing to either sell a product or share information with large numbers of people. Purchasing a commercial website can be an expensive and time consuming process that may result in a website that doesn't relect your vision and is costly to update. Building your own website doesn't have to require fancy software or a team of professionals. In fact, building a simple website using HTML will cost you nothing more than the time to learn the skills contained in this course. All webpages are created using some form of HTML. HTML is an acronym for Hyper Text Markup Language and this language is made up entirely of tags that give simple instructions to web browsers. This course contains an optional final lesson that takes you through the steps to get your completed website onto the internet. When this lesson is completed your website will be live on the internet!

In this lesson you will learn:

• The three elements of a website
• How to download FTP Client software (free, open-source program)
• Easily configure the software for ease of use
• Connect to your Web Hosting account
• Transfer files to the internet

This lesson is optional because it requires access to a Web Hosting account. If you do not already have a web hosting account, we offer inexpensive student packages that can be used for your course work and for practice in a real-time environment. Nothing replaces hands-on experience!
