We have created this tutorial to provide an alternative to purchasing expensive software packages, hiring a contractor or signing up for supposedly free online services which either don't deliver or proceed to spam you with an unending stream of marketing emails. This tutorial was created for students who have completed the Create a Simple Website Using HTML course or have equivalent skills. We will teach you how to create simple webpage form by using HTML form tags in a free Text Editor (ex Notepad). We will also provide an introduction to a widely-used (free) scripting language called PHP which we will use to create a simple script that will send all the form data to an email of your choice. This allows visitors to your site to send you information directly through your website as opposed to having to send you a direct email. Using PHP also keeps your email address away from the public and out of the reach of spam web crawlers. By the end of this tutorial you will not only have a working form that is live on the internet, you will understand how you got it to work and be able to re-create or adapt it for your own projects!
